Regional Acceleratory Phenomenon

The regional acceleratory phenomenon (RAP) or accelerated orthodontics is a multidisciplinary
treatment involving periodontists and orthodontists. The RAP is characterized by the
acceleration of normal cellular activities in the bone, in which teeth will be moved. Before
orthodontic therapy, stimulating the bone surgically would result in:

– Increasing tooth movement,
– Reducing orthodontic treatment time (around 50%),
– Reducing root resorption,
– Reducing relapsing
– Giving the opportunity to periodontist for evaluation of the patient’s oral tissues.

This procedure will be taken under local anesthesia and the patients will recover in 1-2 days.
